I’m very excited for a long time friend of mine to come on board the Monroe Scoop as a new advertiser. Homer Fesperman, owner of the Communications Group. A business specializing in all types of Video Conversions. Communications Group has over 40 years of experience in film and video tape transfer and preservation. The Communications Group uses the highly specialized frame-by-frame method to capture and digitally transfer your old films to DVD. I asked Homer to give me some background information and what he could offer to the readers of the Scoop. Here is his response.

I joined Columbia, South Carolina’s WIS Radio and Television in 1955 as announcer, producer and assistant program director. I Left in 1960 to open the first recording studio in South Carolina and have been in business for myself since then. At one time, I had a staff of 16 including recording techs, artists, copywriters, and sales force. Now I am back down to where I like it…. ME.
Even though my business name is COMMUNICATIONS GROUP… it’s primarily me even though I do have a list of freelancers at my disposal. My primary activity is now video production. Television announcements is a very small portion of my business as most activity centers around corporate accounts. The largest portion of that area included producing (on site) concluding videos for sales meetings for TV Guide, People and Teen People magazines, Republic Mortgage Insurance Company, Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Kansas City, ConAgra Foods, Bunge Foods, Glamour Magazine, Fairchild Publications, Hawker Industries, etc., etc. Those accounts involved traveling from Hawaii to Mexico to St. Thomas and many, many resorts in the states. Since having a mild stroke several years ago, my travel has slowed even though I am still continuing working with a very dear friend of mine, Mary Berner, President and CEO of Readers Digest.
In an effort to stay closer to home, I have continued to produce radio announcements for Terminix, Annual Meeting videos for Union Power Cooperative, Haywood Electric, Pee Dee Electric as well as the North Carolina Electric Cooperative Association. I continue providing video services for the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, various motivational speakers, Holcim Cement, Carolina Ceramics, Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Mississippi, Giant Portland Cement, as well as numerous other individual requests.
My equipment and facilities provide a great flexibility in Audio and Video Production. Services include scripting, full service videography with teleprompter availability, audio recording, music production for audio and video, graphic generation and complete editing/production services on DVCAM, BetaSP and Mini-DV as well as CD and DVD mastering and duplication. Services in this area are practically unlimited. Equipment has recently been updated for High Definition (HD) video.
In the latter years and in an effort to saying closer to home, my talents have been utilized in the very rewarding area of preserving memories that were originally captured on 16 and 8mm film. I use the highly touted frame-by-frame capture method to digitally transfer the images to computer (permitting color correction, editing, etc.) and thus to DVD. This process may take longer, however the quality is far superior to merely projecting on a wall or screen for transfer. Additionally, we transfer 3/4” U-matic videotape, BetaSP, Mini-DV and DVCAM tapes as well as photograph slides to DVD.
I provide the highest quality workmanship in all areas of production. It has always been my sincere ambition. Let me prove it to you.
