Weddington Middle School celebrates art education throughout the community. Eighth graders Makenzie Davidson and Amanda Brook received art awards at the Pineville Fall Fest Children’s Art Show, held October 16 – 17 at Lake Park in Pineville. Amanda’s horse drawing received a merit award and Makenzie’s mixed media collage earned her the Best-In-Show award with a prize of $200.00. Teacchers, students, and parents are grateful to the town of Pineville and their Department of Parks and Recreation for sponsoring this event and showcasing our young talented artists.
In addition, over 60 Weddington Middle Art Students also have an exhibit on display at the Mint Museum of Art on Randolph Road until October 30. Drawings, paintings and sculptural masks fill the museums’s Star Gallery.
