Union County Animal Services
Recently, I visited the Union County Animal Shelter to check out the adoptable animals and to get an idea of how the shelter is run. What I found was a very friendly staff and volunteers working very hard to provide care for these animals looking for a new home. The animal shelter is located on Presson Rd. just off Hwy 74 near the Wingate city limits. The building is located in front of the Union County Sheriff Office.
The shelter has a separate area for dogs with pens and a room dedicated for cats. The shelter employees welcome you to come in and play and pet these animals. I spent time in the room with cats and found some very loving cats who need a new home. Just outside of this room are the inside kennels that the puppys and dogs occupy. These animals get very excited and are glad to see you when you walk in. You are free to open up the gates and play with the animals to your hearts content. There are treats available and you can spend all the time you want to bond with these pets.

The animal shelter is a great place if you are looking to volunteer some time. If you do not have the need to adopt an animal at this time, they welcome you to come by and just play with the animals and show them some attention. As you can see in the video with Laura, they have an open area where you can take one of the animals outside for exercise and play. Why don’t you spend a lunch hour every now and then and spend it at the animal shelter? The animals would love the attention and I promise you will feel better for doing it.
For volunteer and general information regarding adoption, contact 704-283-8303. All volunteers must be over 16 years of age. For information on a specific animal, please visit the animal shelter during our public hours. Union County Animal Services.

You can make a purchase through Amazon and the same camera I use will be delivered to your front door. If you use my Amazon link, I’ll make a few bucks and you will help to support the Monroe Scoop.
