Turning Point of Union County is launching its new thrift store. Second Chance Boutique by Turning Point will open on November 16th with the grand opening celebration on November 20th and 21st. The Second Chance Boutique is an upscale thrift store with a potpourri of items. The mission of the new Boutique is twofold – to supply the community with quality clothing at thrift store prices and to assist with funding for Turning Point’s many services to the community.
Turning Point, the only domestic violence program in Union County, has been in existence since 1985 offering support and advocacy to victims of domestic violence. The mission of Turning Point, a nonprofit organization, is to “turn our community away from domestic violence” and provide victims of domestic violence and their dependent children with safe shelter while they learn how to break free from their abuser.
In addition to providing safe shelter to women and children, other services provided by Turning Point include a 24 hours hotline, counseling for the women and their children, teaching functional living skills, providing legal advocacy and presenting teen dating violence prevention programs in area schools. Turning Point also provides transitional housing, and ensuring that beloved pets are safe.
