Stallings Salvage Employees Protest Unpaid Wages

Monroe, NC

August 18, 2009. Stallings Salvage employees gather to protest and receive unpaid wages.

The reports I heard today were that the owners of Stallings Salvage had allegedly not paid their employees for time periods ranging from 2 weeks to a month. Employees gathered peacefully to protest and receive lost wages. Employees were being called in alphabetically and I understand the owners were inside writing individual payroll checks to each employee.

Union County Law Enforcement was on hand if needed but this was a very peaceful and appeared to be a well organized effort arranged by the employees. Temperatures were high and the Union County Red Cross was on hand handing out ice cold water to anyone who asked.

Workers in NC can file a wage complaint by visiting this NC Labor website.
