Union County, NC – Sheriff Eddie Cathey arrived at the Union County Board of Elections Office today, Feb 8th, at high noon to file for election for the Office of Sheriff. Sheriff Cathey was elected as the first Republican Sheriff of Union County in 2002. The Sheriff’s term is four years. He is running for his third consecutive term. Sheriff Cathey served twenty seven years with the North Carolina Highway Patrol and retired at the rank of First Sergeant before being elected Sheriff.
