One of those alternatives you can find right here in Monroe, NC is Finders Keepers located at 1390 Walkup Ave. Finders Keepers is a non-profit that is part of the “Operation Reachout” ministry. Finders Keepers is a wonderful opportunity for each of us to give to our community. The concept is simple. Donate your unwanted goods to Finders Keepers and receive a charitable tax deduction. Finders Keepers will sell your goods and the money raised stays local to Union County. Operation Reachout and Finders Keepers helps 8,000 families in Union County alone.
The Finders Keepers store on Walkup Ave. is run by Loretta Carter, Store Manager and Lisa Cox, Director of Operations for Operation Reachout. The store has been in operation for more than 10 years. Lisa explained to me that some of the assistance given to families include food, medicine, utilities, clothing and any emergency that may arise. Families do not receive direct payment, but Operation Reachout does assist with paying bills. Most all of the local churches and ministries support Operation Reachout.
Please make donations at 1390 Walkup or 1308 Miller St. By dropping off a few donations at Finders Keepers, you will be doing something amazing for your Union County neighbors who need help.
