Monroe, NC Police Chief, Debra Duncan
Melvin Lee Luckey, 33 of 2925 Seymour Drive, Apt. 7, Charlotte, NC and Otis Redding Howie, Jr., 25 of 1811 Griers Grove Road, Apt. C, Charlotte, NC were charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of larceny of a firearm. Howie was also charged with one count of possession of a firearm by felon. Both men have an extensive criminal history.
Monroe Police Chief Debra Duncan said “Monroe detectives and agents from the SBI and DMV have worked around the clock to solve this case. These arrests are the result of teamwork and good police work.”
On November 1, Crystal and Robbie Jordan of Waxhaw were robbed and shot multiple times in the parking lot in front of the NC License Plate Agency located at Bundy Square Mall on Roosevelt Blvd. Robbie Jordan was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital while his wife, Crystal Jordan, remains at CMC Charlotte where she is in critical condition.
We believe there is a link between this robbery and two previous DMV robberies in Charlotte. The investigation is continuing, additional charges may be filed and there may be additional arrests.
