Monroe, NC Police Lockdown Rocky River Elementary After Gunman Threat (Video)

Monroe, NC

Monroe, NC Police locked down Rocky River Elementary at 500 N. Rocky River Rd. after the school received threats from a gunman today. The full details are sketchy but I received reports from those on the scene, that a gunman actually called the school. The Monroe, NC Police Department immediately locked the school down which is law enforcement protocol in a situation like this. Our police manned the entire area of the school. I observed officers checking out the nearby woods.

No vehicles were allowed on school property before being thoroughly checked by an officer. Police asked for I.D and checked the trunks of vehicles also. Many school buses arrived during the lockdown and each and every bus was walked by an officer to make sure no one was trying to get on the school grounds that did not need to be there. At one point, officers observed a car that was approaching the scene do a quick turn-around. An officer immediately pursued the vehicle as you can see in the video. I don’t believe there was anything that resulted in that. While I was there, I did hear the school speaker system announcing the lockdown. The video I shot is raw footage of what I observed when I arrived on the scene. It was very orderly and our local Police Force kept the situation entirely under control. Next time you see a Monroe, NC Police Officer, please thank them for what they do.
