The Monroe, NC Fire Department responded to a report of a building fire at Bob Mayberry Hyundai, located at 3220 W Roosevelt Boulevard, at 7:54 p.m. Tuesday evening.
A passing motorist spotted smoke coming from the roof at the back of the structure and notified workers in the showroom. When fire firefighters arrived, they encountered smoke coming from the detail shop which is located at the rear of the building. Monroe firefighters brought under control and extinguished the fire within 10 minutes. Fire and smoke damages were limited to the detail shop of the dealership and damages are estimated to be roughly $12,500. An investigation conducted by the Monroe Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s Division determined that the fire occurred as a result of a failure of an electrical appliance that was located on a shelf in the shop.
There were no injuries reported.
