
At 9 PM on February 7, 2010, the Monroe Fire Department responded to a report of a house on fire in the 2200 block of Goldmine Road.
First arriving units reported smoke and flames visible from the roof of the single story house. The fire was brought under control by 18 firefighters in 26 minutes. The Monroe Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Division investigated the fire and determined that the fire started in the attic and was caused by combustible items stored too close to a metal chimney that was in use. According to Fire Marshall Wesley Graham, damage to the $110,000 house was estimated to be $25,000.
