Monroe, NC – On Sunday, June 26, 2011, at approximately 2:05 p.m., officers responded to a call in reference to an armed robbery at the Cricket store located at 2401 West Roosevelt Blvd.
The clerk stated that a white female, later identified as Kristie Allison Welch, entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register and an employee.

As the clerk was handing the money over, Welch made the comment, “I am surprised you haven’t seen me in the news; I’m robbing all the Cricket stores.”
Ms. Welch, 34 of Charlotte, was identified out of a line-up and a warrant for robbery with a dangerous weapon was issued.
Ms. Welch was arrested in Charlotte late Sunday night by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and charged with multiple offenses, including the robbery in Monroe.
Kristie Welch is being held in Mecklenburg County Jail and has a pending court date in Union County on August 4, 2011. The bond amount is unknown.
