Balloon Release To Highlight The Tragedy Of Domestic Violence Homicides In North Carolina On October 5

Turning Point of Union CountyMONROE, NC – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic Violence Shelters across the country will hold different events and projects as a way to show the devastation caused by domestic violence while calling the community to take action against this silent killer.

On Tuesday, October 5, at 9:00 am at the Union County Judicial Center Square in Monroe, Turning Point Battered Women’s Shelter will release 73 purple balloons in memory of each of the victims who have been killed at the hands of their abuser in our state so far this year. We especially invite domestic violence survivors as well as members of law enforcement, fire safety, and government offices to join us for Mayor Bobby Kilgore’s proclamation and the symbolic release of the balloons.

Turning Point staff will also be available from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm to distribute information and answer questions. Please join us as the community remembers these victims. YOUR help is needed to end the violence!
